I understand what u mean with the people working and developing new stuff, but what about a title like THE SIMS, u could download like a shit load of extra stuff when there wasn't a expansion yet for free u just needed the original.
So why they start doing it now, it just seems to be a money making scheme.
On the other hand if it's well priced then its not that bad.
But for some reason paying for something and not getting something physical, I feel sorta robbed. And this is in the context of games.

I don't personally play The Sims games at all, but my sister has every version known to man, and that is ALL she plays. So I asked her what kind of content was available from EA the creators of it. Most of the free content available from them was items of some sort. Those shouldn't cost a thing to you, being that they are such a miniscule addition to the game. Now if they sold and entire house completly decorated and furnished already I might see a point to charging for content like that. Now the stuff I was talking about like in Oblivion and in Socom 3, those are entirely new missions, new maps and completly new content of things never before in the game. Very large amounts of data and information that would take some serious time and effort to create. So things like that I do see a point in charging for. It keeps players interested in the game as well as keeping the company that made it interested by knowing they can make these things and make capital on it. As for the physical part of it...I guess I don't need to feel it in order for me to feel ownership of it, much like my art on here. I know I made it, it's mine thats all I need to know.
